The problem the patent removes

A flip-waste toilet rotates its drain pipe: pipe up, it holds the water seal; pipe down, it opens a straight discharge path. The joint where the rotating pipe meets the fixed inlet is the whole difficulty. In the established art — CN107859131A is a published example — an external sealing ring is pressed against the outer wall of the moving pipe, and the joint is sealed by contact that persists while the pipe rotates.

That arrangement makes the odor barrier the sacrificial part. Every flush cycle rubs the sealing surfaces together. The ring abrades, water passes, the pipe can no longer hold its charge, and the water seal — the only thing standing between the bathroom and the sewer — is gone. The patent's response is not a tougher ring or better rubber. It is a change in when the seal is loaded.

Two seals where one used to be

The sealing element in CN121853662A carries two distinct sealing parts:

  1. A radial sealing part — a lip seal — that maintains a constant radial seal between the movable pipe's inlet and the fixed inlet.
  2. A movable sealing part — an end-face type seal — that engages only when the pipe reaches its end positions: the initial (holding) position and the discharge position.

Splitting the work matters because the two jobs have different demands. The radial lip handles the standing barrier against odor; the end-face part handles the sealing duty at the two positions where the pipe actually dwells. Neither part is asked to seal a moving interface — which is precisely what the single external ring in conventional designs cannot avoid.

The pipe backs away as it turns

This is the core of the mechanism. During rotation, the movable drain pipe moves away from the inlet along the inlet's axis, by a small defined distance. That axial retraction releases the contact pressure at the movable seal exactly when relative motion is occurring.

In plain terms: the seal carries full load only where the pipe is stationary; while the pipe turns, the interface is unloaded.

The retraction distance itself is tiny, and the parts never fully separate — separation is not the point. Shedding the pressing force is. Li Renzhong, the inventor, describes it in his own words: "Very small. If there were no contact there would be no friction — but in practice it never actually loses contact."

Read that against the conventional failure chain. The old design needed contact under load and motion at the same time — that overlap is the wear. CN121853662A separates them in time: motion happens unloaded, loading happens stationary. The friction that destroyed the sealing ring in CN107859131A has no phase in the cycle to accumulate in.
